Monkey Mia Dolphin, Shark Bay
Daughter of Surprise

Surprise had Shock as her second calf in 2006, and was introduced to the beach interaction programme. Like Surprise, Shock was occasionally an evasive dolphin who frequently prefered to hang back in the pod when it when visiting the shore line.
Shock inherited Surprise's outstanding foraging abilities; the two of them were adept at collecting and eating flathead, a spiny fish that is widespread in seagrass but that only a few dolphins can do. On the flats north-east of Monkey Mia, Surprise and Shock spent a lot of time foraging in the shallow water. Despite having minimal markings, Shock's dorsal fin could be recognised by its arched shape.
